36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.” 37 Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” 38 Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”
After he had said this, he went back

outside to the Jews and told them, “I find no guilt in him. John 18:36-38
We spend much of our day trying to uncover truth. When you think about a regular day, from the moment you wake up, you look in the mirror to discover the truth of what you look like. Then as you get dressed you create an image of your "truth" so that you can express how you want others to see you. When you're at work you are constantly solving problems, attempting to get to the bottom of things so that you can make corrections and improvements in your area of responsibility. Hopefully, you are making decisions based on truth versus assumptions. Then when you are home with family, you are having discussions about their lives to know what they are thinking and feeling. If conversations are transparent then you will each share truths about what
you're going through and there is a greater sense of trust and commitment being together.
Truth is not relative. This is a nice saying that we might learn in philosophy class. But each of us are constantly in search of truth as a means of being able to live and function on a daily basis. If you think about our lives in the digital age, the basis of our programs are "yes" and "no" or "1" and "0", as applications are run in a sequence of truth. So when pilate asked the question "what is truth"? It was rea
lly rhetorical. The truth that Pilate was wanting to know at that moment in time is, "how can I keep this man from getting killed by the Jews without abdicating my responsibility?" The stubborn truth is that there was none.
IN CONTRAST...
When Jesus said who is of the truth listens to my voice, he
was not talking about a truth. He was referring to the basic underlying truth of our existence and our purpose. Upon The Truth everything is created, built, and expands henceforth. The Truth of the matter is that Jesus was speaking about a single reality that every person and creature in the world abides by whether they know it or not- God and His will.
When a person acknowledges the reality of God and His will, then everything this person thinks, does and says, is going to be accomplished with lasting impact. The reason is because they will be living according to The Truth, versus a made up version of life. Consider the ramifications of having a blueprint for success in everything, an omega code which can create anything, this is all based on The Truth which is knowing God and His will.
The Kingdom which Jesus spoke about is based on The Truth. The kingdom is the expanse of God's authority and provision for all those who acknowledge and live by this reality. There is no other kingdom which God will bless abundantly because blessings only flow through His Kingdom. You might experience instances in your life where you've received His blessing, likely because you were acting according to The Truth. But at other times you might not have experienced the same blessing. This might be because you weren't acting according to The Truth. The more you seek God and His will the more you will experience His blessing.
The Truth is the reality of God and His will. Seek The Truth of the matter and you will experience all that God has created you to be.
Father,
May I choose to seek your will and not my own. I do acknowledge you in my life and I want to live according to The Truth. May I also help others to know this reality so that your promise of salvation can be fulfilled.
